Question: What options are available when converting PCL to Vector PDF?
Answer: There are four options available when converting to Vector PDF in the PDF Preferences dialog box. They may be selected/deselected in the upper center portion of the PDF Preferences dialog box shown below. Descriptions of each of the four Vector PDF options follow.

1. Detect/embed single form overlay
This option is only for PCL files that have a single form overlay macro that is either executed at the top of each page or is set as an automatic overlay. The converter images this page as a single PDF object to be referenced by each page. This greatly reduces the size of the PDF created.
2. Embed fonts referenced in PCL
This option finds the equivalent TrueType font for each font referenced in the PCL file and embeds it into the PDF created. It honors the font substitutions listed in the font map (PTC32.map) file.
3. Exclude Windows core fonts
This option finds the equivalent TrueType font for each font referenced in the PCL file and embeds it in the newly created PDF. The Windows core set of typefaces is the EXCEPTION. With these typefaces, it simply makes references to the Windows Core Set of fonts in the PDF file. It honors whatever font substitutions are listed in the font map (PTC32.map) file.
4. Embed fonts downloaded in PCL
This option converts the download bitmap fonts found in the PCL file into scalable TrueType fonts and embeds them in the PDF created. This is useful when you have a high-volume print stream with mostly embeddable or remappable fonts, except a barcode or other unique font that was downloaded as a bitmap font.
